Delete your SplitCodex account

Last updated: 1 July 2026

This page explains how to request deletion of your SplitCodex account and the data associated with it.

How to delete your account

In the app (fastest). Open SplitCodex and go to Settings → Danger zone → Delete account, then confirm. Your account is deleted right away.

By email. If you can't access the app, email [email protected] from the address associated with your SplitCodex account (or include your username) with the subject "Delete my account". We verify that you own the account and complete the deletion within 30 days.

What is deleted

  • Your email address, username, and profile photo.
  • Your login credentials (password) and any linked Google sign-in identity.
  • Payment methods you added to receive settlements.
  • Your active sessions and any push-notification device tokens.

What may be kept, and for how long

  • Shared group records. Expenses, settlements, and comments you created within a group are part of other members' financial history, so they are kept. Your account reverts to a placeholder ("manually added") member — your login and personal details are removed, but your display name stays visible to that group's members so their balances remain accurate.
  • Backups. Residual copies of your data in encrypted backups are purged within 90 days of deletion.
  • Legal obligations. Information we are legally required to retain is kept only for the period the law requires, then deleted.
